someboddy is mailing me all nonsense stuff on my id..i want to locate him..or find things about him..this person is really troubling me a lot..i will be thank full if some can help..i just knoe his yahoo i..an got few mails from his side..

um.. why do you want to find out who it is?
wouldn't it be easier to block them?

Do you mind if friends and family know all or most of what you do online? How much information are you prepared to give out about yourself online?

Do you get annoyed if you find out that somebody has been googling you?

As for me, I have some strange aversion against making up a nickname or using another name. When I want to ensure privacy I simply use my middle name instead of my first name. Anybody else experienced this?

But any photos I put up of myself are always real. I am simply counting on that the odds of somebody I know spotting my picture are extremely low.

I am interested to hear how others feel about online privacy, and what practical steps you take to protect your identity and privacy.

I think one of my biggest fears is for someone to discover that I even use Yahoo answers lol. if I'm to talk about personal problems it's between me and another anonymous user. That's why my name is a four digit number because I know that the odds of someone guessing its me is low. The only time I'll enclose personal information is when I'm using a service like facebook where the only people who can see it are my friends.

With all the stories you hear, I believe that you've got to simply take some simple steps to protect yourself. not using your real name, location, and phone number is probably some of the abc's of cyber security. unfortunately, there are people out there that cross the line – how close will you let them in?

I use false names and date of births all the time. I rarely put my pic on any site as a precaution.
I use a firewall and set the identity protection on high. Clean your cache in the firewall options often. I run spyware scans on my computer daily. run a virus scan every week or two is my gig.

I just use YellowSnow as my nick-name if im somewere that i dont want people to know my name.

Quite easy. you can do by open Start>Run>CMD then type "ping www.xxxx.com" you will get ip address of the web site you looking right away. xxxx means web site name you looking for ip address.

Use Visual Trace Route, it's a free tool

Several ways to do this; however I'll tell you the easiest one. Open an MS-Dos Prompt Window (if you use windows XP go to Start>Run>Then type in cmd and press enter). a console window will appear. In it, type ping [website name].

For example: ping yahoo.com. Don't use the "WWW" part as it is not needed.

After you type that in, hit enter. Your computer will then ping the website a few times (about 5 by default) it will report to you the distance (in time) between your computer and the website's server as well as the address it is being sent to.

start->run->command->ip address

Here are two, but I'd go with the first. I mean theres a nice review on it by CNET and in my experience there a good starting point for any software internet searches.

But if you want the multiable cams streaming to one pc the secound mite be the one 4u.

When I search the web for proxy servers I find a lot of sites but most of the proxy servers are already dead. does anybody know a proxy server list that`s updated regularly?

if your chatting directly with this person on yahoo, do the command prompt of nbstat; netstat; tracert. but you have to know also the MS-DOS commands. otherwise, you will fail too.

When I send an email through my YA profile, my email adress is not displayed, but is my IP adress hidden also?

When I read all the head-lines of emails I received by other YA users, I could only see the IP adress of California, even when those people live in other cities and other countries?
Is the IP adress hidden?

And how can I see it in the normal Yahoo Mail (not through YA profiles) , and Hotmail?

Just to start off… i don't use web proxies to do illegal things… there are just places that i don't necessarily want my ip displayed on…

I have been using web proxies so far to hide my ip/be anonymous online… and i know that like anything on earth there are tons of ways of doing different things and new methods being experimented with/created all the time… but does anyone now of any other methods of being anonymous online other than web proxies?

Like i was saying, i know that things like this always have other methods being created and such, but does anybody here now of any other ways?/are there any other well known ways of hiding ip/being anonymous?
