How can I find out the ip of everything connected to the router?

I know the routers address is 192.168.2.1. But how can I find everyones ip address, including ipod touch's and printers?

Login to your router and look for something like "DHCP lists table"–or basically anything with DHCP in it. It will show you everything connected to your router.

Open the router's configuration page in a browser. there should be a page that shows you the attached devices, the IP addresses, their MAC addresses and device names (if any). you didn't mention the model of router, so I'm kind of guessing on this, but such a page is available on most router configs.

Some routers will let you see all connected devices but these addresses can change since you probably use DHCP on the router.

Most of the routers have a way of seeing all connected clients through the web interface. Type the IP of the router in your browser and browse the menus.

If you have a DLink wireless router, you can see wireless clients at Status/Wireless. you can even see more detailed information at "active sessions", including the IP they are connecting, the PORT they are using and protocol (TCP/UDP).

I suggest you to use free tool, which will help you to find not only IP-addresses, but also MAC-addresses, computer names and so on in the subnet. It's called Advanced IP-scanner.

Type 192.168.2.1 into the address bar of your browser as if it is a web page name. This should up the configuration program on your router as a web page.

Look for DHCP. you should find a table there that list all the devices that have connect to your network recently (the default is usually 21 days). It will list their hostname, IP, and MAC addresses for you.

I just use the following DOS (Command Prompt) command. I use Windows XP Pro, so it may not work with every OS:

FOR /L %p in (2.1.254) do ping -n 1 192.168.2.%p >> pingstat.txt | findstr /i ""

If you wanted to do this routinely, create a .bat or .cmd file with the following:

for /l %%p in (2,1,254) do ping -n 1 192.168.2.%%p >> C:pingstats.txt

Note that this will only show you the IP addresses and not device names.

sounds like a netgear router ..if thats the case go to the wireless tab and there it will reveal the mac addresses of all devices
if you use wpa as an encryption it will cause computers not to attach itself to your network

An Internet Protocol address is a numerical identification number given to devices in a computer network. Each device must know its own IP address and the IP address of the device with which it needs to communicate. Every person, company, device, or server that is online at has an IP address, which is similar to person’s home address. someone must have your home address to send you a letter; much like a device must have your IP address to relay a packet of information. IP addresses hold a vast amount of information and knowing how to control the amount of information a website or company can gain on each user is up to the user.

An IP address maintains a record of geographic information based on where the user is surfing from. many websites are readily available that allows a user to find his or her own IP address. Not only will these websites easily show a user’s IP address, but also what city, state, and country they are surfing from and the ISP they are using. a website will not be able to track a user down to their home address based on their IP, but in most cases it can get within a few miles with fantastic accuracy, depending on the closest network hub. a subpoenaed ISP or a company checking their web logs on the other hand can easily locate the user’s home or cubicle. Some of the better websites will also give the user’s area code, geographic longitude and latitude, whether a proxy is being used, and the type of Internet connection (cable, dsl, etc.) a user has.

Web surfers have many reasons to hide their IP. Search engines, marketing companies, and even their own Internet Service Provider track and record their data. Masking the IP address with an anonymous proxy is a fantastic way to avoid being monitored by these companies. They associate the stored data with the “fake” IP address, leaving the user’s real IP address free from having been recorded or spammed. Users should always hide their IP address, mostly out of principle. It is hard to imagine just how much information is floating around the web, but ultimately a web surfer is able to protect their information. Every Internet user can be traced, one way or another, but using some form of IP masking will help prevent this and make It that much more hard to track and record users, build profiles of their surfing habits, or restrict their access when using an anonymous proxy to mask their IP address. IP addresses hold a fantastic deal of personal information, which can be disastrous if it falls into the incorrect hands. Ultimately, there is no way around it; an IP address is required to surf the Internet, it just does not have to be the user’s real one.

Because they are network-specific, these are often re-occurring. they can also change whenever you (re)connect to a network. amongst other things, this is what you need if you want to remotely access another device.To be able to see your local IP address, first make sure your mobile is connected to a (Wi-Fi) network.

I'm pretty much being STALKED online, and am continuously having bad things said about me (I know this because I occasionally check their pages or have had people tell me). please, can someone help me find some free software that would help me? No but it depends what you are doing when you hide your IP address. If you are downloading illegal music files for example then yes it is illegal.

Absolutely not Ghosting is done by numerous businesses across the country. what you may be doing behind the ghosting software may be illegal but hiding the adress is perfectly legal.

I am curious about this "IP address hiding software" you supposedly purchased…

You cannot hide your IP address. Computers use IP addresses to find and communicate with other computers on a logical network. WIthout giving out your IP address, other computers cannot talk back to you. If they can't talk to you, they cannot transmit the data that you requested.

IP addresses are assigned at random, on demand. You cannot use IP addresses to find where someone lives, what their name is, what they look like, their bank account, their phone number, their dog's name, or their favorite color. IP addresses are in no way linked to your identity.

Needing to hide your IP address won't do anything to protect you. If you communicate anywhere (Internet or otherwise), you will be giving SOMEONE your real IP address.

Think of it as a prepaid cell phone. They are sold practically at random; you never know who's going to end up with a specific phone. If you call someone with a prepaid phone, they'll get your number. even though they have your number, it's impossible for them to know WHO you are, or WHERE you are. It's virtually anonymous. Same thing with IP addresses. All it's good for is contacting you — nothing else.

No, there are no laws regarding IP addresses. even if there were (which would be totally pointless), "blocking" your IP address won't be doing you any good.

If I were you, I'd take back this software and get a refund. the only thing this software would do is set up your computer to use a proxy server. this means that your computer communicates through a third party, using their IP address; however, your IP address is still given out to this third party. Proxy or not, your IP address can not be truly "blocked".

If you don't have an IP address, or don't give it out, your computer cannot communicate on a network. Period.

Don't be so paranoid about IP addresses. Nobody can use it to find out who you are, or "send you a virus". It's a necessary thing to make the Internet work, don't mess with it. It's not as dangerous as people make you think… in fact, it's not dangerous at all.

Remember, it's just like an anonymous phone number. If someone finds out what it is, they can threaten you all they want, but they can't do anything. Don't fall for idle threats. anyone threatening you with your IP address is an idiot, plain and simple.

How to Download with BitTorrent Using a Proxy

A simple how-to guide that will show you another way to mask your IP address and safeguard your BitTorrent downloading habits from the prying eyes of copyright holders.

As the entertainment industry continues to target BitTorrent users for illegally sharing copyrighted material, especially in light of the recent campaign targeting tens of thousands individuals in a mass extortion effort, file-sharers will need to ensure their IP addresses are protected against unwanted attention.

The use of VPNs and Tor routers are some of the more common methods people use, though the latter is intended for web browsing and not P2P since the data consumption rates slow down connection speeds for others.

Another method is the use of proxies to mask your IP address while downloading content with BitTorrent.

How does it work? It’s fairly easy, and will be explained in a few easy steps.

There’s a great list that can be found here and here. Note that some are free and some require a modest monthly fee.

In this case I’m using uTorrent. go to options > preferences > connection.

Under “Proxy Server” select “HTTP” from the drop down menu box, and then enter the IP address of the the proxy server you’ve chosen where it says “Proxy.” The last four digits after the semicolon correspond to the port which should be entered in the “Port” option.

Example: The proxy server address I selected was 112.65.135.54:8080.

Simple select the “Ok” button at the bottom and that’s it.

See the example below after loading a a torrent tracker for the show “Pioneer One.”

It’s just that easy.
