My virus scan is about expire. I have Norton Symantec currently. I wouldn't say that it's the best virus scan because I have encountered trojans and spyware on my computer a couple of times since I've had it. I know that most virus scans are not 100% guaranteed, but for the money Symantec is asking for – I can't say that I am a happy customer.
What is a good virus scan with internet protection – either free or in a fair price range?
avg is pretty good but you really need multiple layers of protection. AVG with Spybot Search and Destroy and Adaware is a good mix. also do all of your windows updates. Install Windows Defender from Microsoft or change to Mozilla Firefox.
AVG and Mcafee. Hands down no questions asked
I did test several different internet security programs over the last 12 months.
Here is my top 4
4th place Kaspesky internet security 2009 – good – 7 out of 10
3rd place Bitdefender Total Security – good – 8 out of 10
2nd place, until 3 weeks ago 1st place
ESET Smart Security – very good 8 1/2 of of 10
I tested Panda Internet Security 2009 and I liked it that much, that it has taken over 1st place. I give it 9 out of 10
But there is a second alternative
You can protect your computer very well with free programs.
You should however not rely on just one program.
Here are some very good programs, all for free and together they will protect your computer very well indeed.
Anti virus and firewall pro

or

in combination with

Threatfire is an anti virus, that can be installed next to any other anti virus program on the same computer

This is a very good program, that completely runs in the background

I want to buy a really safe internet protection for my pc that’s easy to use and that will work as good on my laptop. Is it recommended to have 2 programs?I’m not very computer literate so any help would be appreciated. And a suggestion on a book about computers would be great also!
I have an Acer AspireOne netbook that I mainly use for traveling and school. I want to purchase a MacBook but don’t have the moeny right now, so this will have to do! What is a good, full coverage internet protection program I can purchase to protect my computer from viruses, etc? I shop online, but do not usually download anything (i.e. music, videos). Thanks in advance!
my laptops mcafee says my internet is not protected but everything else is fine. it told me that if i want to resolve this problem then i have to click “fix”. so i clicked fix and it said “one or more problems require your responce”. i dont know waht else to do. i allready verified my mcafee account, and i did a computer clean and scan. how do i fix my internet protection?
I just bought a MacBook Pro and was wondering if I needed to buy internet protection for it. Does it come with any? If I do need to, is there somewhere I can get it for free? I haven’t gotten it in the mail, yet, but I was curious. Thank you!
